The story

The chauvinist Damien wakes up in a world where women and men have their roles reversed in society, and everything is dominated by women.

What it’s like

Bright, flat, high-key daylight fills the offices, restaurants and apartments of this French comedy, with clean modern interiors, pastel-and-grey palettes and crisp digital framing that keeps things brisk rather than moody. The camera stays close and restless in the workplace scenes, cutting quickly between faces, while the score is light, bouncy and comic, with little silence to settle into. The vibe is sharp, satirical and a little exasperated: a brisk, mischievous mirror-world comedy, the kind to watch on a lively weekend evening or as an easy group pick where people enjoy arguing about it afterward. Its pacing is quick and farcical, and its emotional register swings between broad slapstick frustration and pointed social barbs. The central character is a self-assured man whose certainties get steadily dismantled as he is forced to live inside the roles he has always imposed on others, so the arc is one of bruised pride slowly giving way to uncomfortable self-recognition. Violence is absent; the discomfort is verbal, social and humiliating rather than physical, with occasional crude or sexual jokes. It suits viewers who want gender-role satire with bite and a lot of comic friction, and it is less suited to anyone wanting something gentle or purely soothing.
