- comedy
The story
38-year-old Alice has everything to become the next editor-in-chief of Rebelle magazine except for her uptight image. But when the young and charming Balthazar, barely 20, crosses Alice's path, she realizes that he holds the key to her promotion.
What it’s like
Bright, polished Paris sets the look here: glossy magazine offices, sleek apartments and the sheen of fashion-world parties, all warmly lit and lightly stylised. The mood is breezy and amused rather than frantic, with a playful sparkle that suits a relaxed evening on the sofa with a glass of wine. The pacing is brisk and chatty, built on quick exchanges and the comic friction between a buttoned-up professional and a cheerfully unbothered younger man. The emotional register stays warm and light, and the arc is a gentle thaw as a rigid, image-conscious woman loosens up and stops fretting about how she is seen. Intensity is low: there is romantic and sexual suggestion and some mild awkwardness, but no violence, gore or real cruelty, and the stakes stay comfortably small. It is for viewers who want an easy, witty romance with stylish settings and crowd-pleasing charm, for a comfortable night in or a lighthearted watch with company.
