The story

16-year-old Henry Coles is an outsider in her new town of Reston, New York. With a major chip on her shoulder and no friends, she remains withdrawn and isolated, but everything changes when a traumatic encounter with a classmate triggers something deep within Henry— unleashing a power she cannot control.

What it’s like

Overcast, muted suburban days, with cool grey-blue interiors and dim school corridors that feel faintly institutional, shot with a mostly handheld, restless camera that tightens into close faces during tense scenes. Teleportation arrives as a sharp, sudden sound cue and a jolt of disorientation rather than a spectacle, and the action sequences are brief and physical. The score leans on synth pulses and low electronic hum, and quieter stretches let the silence of a strained house settle in. The vibe is brooding and wary, with a lonely, prickly teenager at the centre and a mother-daughter relationship that runs on guardedness and slow thaw. Intensity is moderate: sexual assault is part of the backstory and is handled as trauma, not shown in graphic detail, and there is some fighting and peril, with little gore. It suits a rainy weekend or a late-night binge, and it is best for viewers who enjoy sci-fi action with an emotionally bruised, character-driven core and can tolerate heavier subject matter.
