The story
Mark Evans is a very talented goalkeeper and the grandson of one of the strongest goalkeepers in Japan, who supposedly died before Mark was born. Even though his skills and enthusiasm are incredible, his school lacks a real soccer club, as the six other members don't appear very interested even in training. One day, when a mysterious forward named Axel Blaze moves to Mark's town, the young goalkeeper sets out to find and recruit members for his soccer team. There are nearly 1000 playable characters with varying skills that will determine the success of the team. As you play through the story, Mark can recruit various characters on the team and help achieve his ultimate goal of competing!
What it’s like
Bright, saturated anime-style art with bold outlines and cheerful character portraits, set against sunlit school grounds, dusty playing fields and busy town streets. Story scenes unfold as comic-panel dialogue with expressive faces, and matches burst into exaggerated, kinetic animation whenever a special shot fires. The soundtrack is upbeat and punchy, leaning on driving guitar and synth rock that swells during tense games. Pacing is brisk and episodic: short story beats and quick recruiting scenes give way to longer stretches of team-building and tactical tinkering that suit small sessions. The emotional register is earnest and warm, a sweet underdog tale about outsiders slowly becoming a team and growing in confidence. Intensity is very gentle: competitive tension and goofy rivalries, with no gore, no sexual content and nothing frightening, and the flashy special moves are cartoon spectacle rather than harm. Vibe: sunny, encouraging and lightly comedic, a comfort pick for a lazy afternoon or a handheld session on a train. Best for players who want an uplifting sports story and enjoy collecting and building a roster of quirky characters.
