The story

An HD remaster of the Playstation 2 version of Tales of Symphonia that comes with extra content. It is also bundled in the Tales of Symphonia Chronicles collection for the Playstation 3. Over 80 hours of gameplay in this epic, emotionally charged storyline. Experience the fierce, action-packed battle system. Combine hundreds of special attacks and magic spells. In a dying world, legend has it that a Chosen One will one day rise from amongst the people and the land will be reborn. The line between good and evil blurs in this epic adventure where the fate of two interlocked worlds hangs in the balance.

What it’s like

Bright, saturated anime fantasy with painted skies, lush green forests, and sunlit towns full of bustling color, shifting into dimmer, more ashen palettes as the world sours. The camera hangs above a hand-drawn cel-shaded look that reads as storybook warm, and the 3D environments are sweeping and open. The soundtrack leans on orchestral swells and bright, heroic themes that dip into quieter piano and strings for the sadder beats. In the hands, combat is fast and fluid: real-time melee with chained special moves, flashy spellwork, and a satisfying rhythm of combos that dominates the playtime. The vibe is earnest, adventurous, and warmly melancholic, with a steady undercurrent of longing. Over long stretches it suits a weekend of settling in, a comfort replay on a quiet evening, or a long session with a friend on the couch, since co-op and split-screen are built in. Its story is a long, character-driven journey of friendship and reluctant responsibility, with the people at its center slowly learning to trust one another. Violence is cartoonish and stylized: frequent sword and magic fights with bursts of blood-free impact, no gore, and some tense, emotional scenes that carry more weight than the action. For fans of JRPGs who love big casts, chatty party banter, and a long arc.
