The story
The haunted Lambert family seeks to uncover the mysterious childhood secret that has left them dangerously connected to the spirit world.
What it’s like
Cold blue and sickly green dominate this supernatural sequel, with dim, shadowed family rooms lit by hallway glow, lamp light and flickering television blue, and the spirit world rendered in washed-out, sepia-tinged dream spaces. James Wan's camera favours slow, probing dollies down dark corridors and sudden, jolting cuts, while Joseph Bishara's score leans on eerie strings, low drones and stinging stingers that tighten the air before each scare. The sound design does much of the work: creaks, whispers and muffled knocks carry the dread. Its vibe is uneasy and clammy, a Halloween-season unease that suits a late-night watch with the lights off or a spooky-season double bill. Pacing is brisk once the haunting escalates, with scares arriving in quick bursts between quieter stretches of family strain. Intensity is moderate: frightening jump scares, demonic figures and a possession-driven climax, but no gore and little overt violence, mostly dread and startle rather than brutality. It suits viewers who want a classic haunted-house chill with a strong family core, rather than a grisly or gratuitous horror.
