The story
A young mother and her twin sons move into a rural house that's marked for death.
What it’s like
Murky, low-lit horror with grainy, desaturated night scenes, dim tungsten interiors, and a sickly yellow-green cast that makes rural Texas rooms feel airless. Long, patient static shots hold on dark corners and doorways, while the frame often sits deep in shadow so the dread comes from what the camera waits to reveal. The sound design leans on eerie, distorted home-movie footage, creaking floorboards, and a low, droning score that surfaces in bursts of sudden noise. Its vibe is bleak and unsettling, with a feeling of sustained, creeping wrongness rather than relief. It suits a late night alone with the lights off, though its intensity is considerable: there is frequent frightening imagery, some bloody violence and child peril, and several disturbing snuff-style sequences that land hard. Pacing is slow and deliberate, building tension through repetition and ambiguity, and its emotional register is grim, centred on a mother's desperate protectiveness toward her children as she confronts something she cannot outrun. It is for horror fans who want atmosphere and dread over jump-scare spectacle, and who can stomach dark, upsetting material.
