The story

With the price on his head ever increasing, John Wick uncovers a path to defeating The High Table. But before he can earn his freedom, Wick must face off against a new enemy with powerful alliances across the globe and forces that turn old friends into foes.

What it’s like

Saturated neon and sodium-orange streetlight give way to cool, rain-slick European night, with long fluid tracking shots that follow a single body through staircases, nightclubs and Parisian avenues, and fight choreography framed wide so every blow stays legible. Its palette is deep teal, amber and blood-red against inky black, with a glossy digital sheen and sharp, cinematic depth. Sound does much of the work: a pulsing synth-and-orchestral score swells under gunfire and the clack of martial-arts impacts, then drops to near silence for breath. The vibe is stylised, relentless and operatic, a heightened neo-noir with dry deadpan humour threaded through its formality, best for a late-night, full-volume watch or a long-haul flight when you want momentum without thinking. Pacing is long and escalating, with the lone, grief-hardened protagonist moving toward a bleak, unsentimental reckoning. Violence is constant and very bloody, with many gunshot and blade deaths shown in close, stylised detail, and frequent brutal hand-to-hand combat; there is no sexual content and little tenderness. Made for people who want kinetic, meticulously staged action and an unrelenting, rule-bound underworld.
