The story

Dev and Maya are both married to different people. Settled into a life of domestic ritual, and convinced that they are happy in their respective relationships, they still yearn for something deeper and more meaningful, which is precisely what they find in each other.

What it’s like

Lush, saturated frames of wealthy Delhi and New York interiors: marble foyers, sprawling homes glowing in warm amber lamplight, and the sweep of candy-coloured sets and Yash Chopra-style grandeur, all shot with a glossy, polished digital sheen. Camera moves are fluid and expressive, with frequent slow pushes into faces and sweeping crane shots across crowded celebrations, while the music swells with lush orchestral strings and big, sentimental Hindi film songs that punctuate every emotional beat. The vibe is melodramatic, romantic and luxuriously wistful, the kind of sit-down for a long evening when you want to be swept away by longing and grand gestures. Pacing is leisurely and deliberately heavy, unfolding across a long runtime with multiple musical interludes, and the emotional register swings between tender, teary and bittersweet. The central arc follows two restless spouses who slowly admit their unhappiness and let their feelings for each other grow, with a great deal of guilt, wounded pride and family pressure along the way. Intensity is low on violence and gore, with no graphic content, but the adultery theme is central and the emotional conflict is intense and often painful to watch. Best for fans of sweeping, emotional romantic dramas who don't mind moral tension and a tearful ending.
