The story

Three years after Mike bowed out of the stripper life at the top of his game, he and the remaining Kings of Tampa hit the road to Myrtle Beach to put on one last blow-out performance.

What it’s like

Warm, saturated Southern summer light spills across motel rooms, convertible highways and sun-baked beach towns, with the camera often lingering at handheld, easy-going distance as if it were riding along with the group. The palette runs honeyed gold, sea-glass teal and hot pink, and the many dance sequences are shot for bright, sweaty energy, with bodies moving in and out of frame against stage lights and crowds. The soundtrack is a loud, bouncing mix of pop, R&B and rap that drives every set piece, while the quieter scenes lean on laughter and casual talk. The mood is breezy, affectionate and cheerfully raunchy, a party movie about friends who are getting older and a little wistful about it. Pacing is loose and episodic, built around stops along the road, with gentle reflection breaking up the performances. Its people move from restless drift toward reconnection and a clearer sense of what they want from one another. Sexual content is frequent and explicit in tone, with partial nudity and suggestive dancing, though intimacy stays playful rather than graphic. Violence is minimal and confrontations are mild and brief. It suits a fun night in with friends, a comfort watch, or anyone who wants a joyful, sensual, road-trip comedy about male friendship.
