The story

As a filmmaker and his girlfriend return home from his movie premiere, smoldering tensions and painful revelations push them toward a romantic reckoning.

What it’s like

Black-and-white digital images that feel crisp and stark, shot almost entirely inside one modern house at night, with the only colour coming from warm lamp glow and the cold blue of the pool outside. The camera stays close and restless, drifting around two faces in long, unbroken takes, lingering on sweat, cigarette smoke and the small flinches in a room that never quite settles. The score is sparse and sudden, a few swells of strings that land like punctuation, while long stretches are filled with overlapping argument and the hum of a quiet house. Vibe: charged, claustrophobic, intimate, like sitting in on a bad night too close to the bed. Intensity: no violence or gore, but sustained verbal cruelty, emotional manipulation and some sexual tension, with a raw, confrontational edge throughout. Pacing is talky and escalating, rising in waves rather than building to action, and the two leads carry the whole weight as a couple circling old wounds and what they cost each other. Best for viewers who want a sharp, stylised two-hander about creative ego and love under strain, not a comforting watch.
