The story

The further adventures of the Marvel Universe's mightiest general membership superhero team. With an all-star roster consisting of Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Hawkeye, Falcon and, occasionally--when she feels like it and only when she feels like it--Black Widow, the Avengers are a team in the truest sense. The Avengers save the world from the biggest threats imaginable--threats no single super hero could withstand.

What it’s like

Bright, saturated primary colours and bold ink outlines give this animated series the bounce of a comic book brought to life, with crisp impact frames, rapid zooms and a lot of sky, city and lab-metal glare. The action is constant but cartoonish: punches land with big cartoon thuds, energy blasts light up the screen, and buildings crumble in clean, tidy chunks. Dialogue runs quick and jokey, with the heroes trading banter between fights, and the score is driven by brassy, up-tempo orchestral cues that keep the energy high. The mood is upbeat Saturday-morning adventure, with the team's camaraderie and goofy rivalries doing more emotional work than any real grief or dread. Violence is non-graphic and cartoon-stylised, with no gore, and peril is frequent but quickly resolved. It suits a lively weekend morning, a kid's screen time, or an easy background watch while doing something else. It is for people who want fast, friendly superhero fun with a clear sense of teamwork and no real cruelty.
