The story

Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales is a third-person action-adventure game and a standalone continuation of Marvel's Spider-Man (2018). Set in an open-world version of New York City during winter, the game follows Miles Morales as he takes on the role of Spider-Man while Peter Parker is abroad. Gameplay focuses on traversal, combat, and completing missions across the city. Miles has unique abilities distinct from Peter, including bio-electric "Venom" attacks and temporary invisibility. The game features unlockable suits, gadgets, and a skill tree progression system.

What it’s like

Winter-bright Manhattan at street level, with snow drifting past glassy skyscrapers and the city lit in warm holiday amber and cold blue dusk. The camera swings through the canyons on webs with a fluid, weighty momentum, and the hand-to-hand fights land with punchy, comic-inflected flashes and sparks. Music pulses with hip-hop and synth-tinged beats during swinging and battles, then drops into softer, quieter strings and piano for interior moments at home or in the subway. The mood is buoyant and youthful, a cozy-adrenaline blend that suits a weekend evening, a long-haul flight, or a restless night when you want to move through a big, lively city. Violence is stylized and frequent: punches, electric blasts, and villains like Rhino, with blood-free impacts and no gore. Stealth sections bring a tense crouch-and-wait edge, but the overall register stays hopeful and warm. Best for players who want a colorful, character-driven superhero romp with a young protagonist finding his footing and a surprisingly tender relationship with his family.
