The story

One person is all that stands between humanity and the greatest threat it’s ever faced. Relive the legend of Commander Shepard in the highly acclaimed Mass Effect trilogy with the Mass Effect Legendary Edition. Includes single-player base content and over 40 DLCs from Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, and Mass Effect 3 games, including promo weapons, armors and packs. Experience an amazingly rich and detailed universe where your decisions have profound consequences on the action and the outcome.

What it’s like

Clean, sleek sci-fi interiors dominate: brushed-steel corridors, cool blue holographic consoles, and the warm amber glow of a starship's observation deck against deep-space black. Vistas of alien worlds arrive in wide, painterly bursts, with dusty ochre deserts, violet nebulae and rain-slicked megacity skylines, while the over-the-shoulder camera stays close to Commander Shepard during firefights, the muzzle flashes and biotic blue lighting punctuating each skirmish. Between missions the mood softens into long, quiet conversations, framed in soft shot-reverse-shot close-ups as crew members lean in over tables and bars. The score swings from sweeping orchestral swells to hushed ambient pads, and the soundscape is full of hum, static and distant alarms. The vibe is earnest, grand and reflective, suited to a long evening alone or an unhurried weekend with headphones on. Pacing is deliberate, with dialogue-heavy stretches giving way to bursts of action. The arc of Shepard is one of accumulating responsibility and loyalty, shaped by choices that echo across three games. Violence is frequent and stylised, with gunfire, explosions and some grim combat deaths, but gore stays limited and sexual content is present yet non-explicit. It suits players who want an epic, choice-driven universe and a slow-burn emotional investment in their crew.
