The story
The story of Xenosaga III starts a year after "Xenosaga II" ended. Shion has resigned from Vector Industries after learning that the company is deeply connected to the appearance of the Gnosis. She instead joins Scientia, an underground organization working to unveil Vector's secrets in order to bring them down. Uncover the truth and save mankind in the finale of the Xenosaga series which boasts over 3 hours of movies, an updated battle system, and an improved customization feature with more in-depth character specialization and diversification and higher rewards for strategic party management. This RPG also includes an easily accessible database feature, the "Xeno Bible" and a mini-game with over 50 levels that challenges both you and your friends.
What it’s like
Heavy, clean sci-fi with a sterile, anime-polished look: white corridors, glossy spaceship interiors, and bright hard-lit labs punctuated by the dim blues and reds of cramped underground hideouts. Cutscenes lean on static anime framing, long held shots of characters in conversation, and a sense of vast, empty space between stations and planets, while the battle screens are busy with bursts of colour and mechanical flare. The score is orchestral and operatic, swelling with choral weight during big revelations and dropping to sparse strings or near silence in quieter moments, and the voice acting is earnest and often theatrical. Its vibe is solemn, earnest and grand, with a slightly melancholy undertow. It suits long evenings with time to commit, or a rainy weekend tackling a deep, text-heavy story. Pacing is deliberate: long dialogue stretches give way to turn-based fights and steady backtracking through familiar ship decks, with a grinding loop of party building and gear tuning. Emotional register is earnest and philosophical, following a woman who has left a corporation that is out to destroy her and is trying to find her footing among allies she must trust. Intensity is moderate: frequent combat with mechanical and android enemies, some bloody impacts and death, but no gore-heavy or sexual content. For players who want an encyclopedic, talky space opera with layered lore and patient systems.
