The story

Mass Effect 3 plunges you into an all-out galactic war to take Earth back from a nearly unstoppable foe – and how you fight that war is entirely up to you. Groundbreaking interactive storytelling drives the heart-pounding action in which each decision you make could have dire and deadly consequences. You are Commander Shepard, the only one who can save Earth from annihilation. BioWare makes its debut on the Nintendo console with the gripping blockbuster game of the year: Mass Effect 3 - coming to the Wii U console with brand new features and content that fully take advantage of the Wii U hardware. Command the battlefield like never before by using the Wii U GamePad to issue commands and unleash devastating attacks. Bonus content includes a new mission and squad member, an exclusive new weapon, the Extended Cut ending, and an interactive backstory experience detailing previous events in the Mass Effect universe.

What it’s like

Cool blue-grey sci-fi palette under harsh battlefield light: ruined cityscapes in smoke and orange fire, sterile starship corridors lit in clean white, and the glowing teal of alien tech against dark, dusty ground. The camera hugs the shoulder in third person during firefights and cuts to slow, cinematic close-ups in dialogue, with faces framed carefully under soft key light. The score swells with orchestral brass and pulsing electronic percussion during combat, then drops to hushed strings and near silence in quiet moments between missions. The vibe is epic and mournful, a grand war story that stays personal, with a lot of heart in its crew banter and quieter conversations. Pacing alternates between frantic, adrenaline-heavy shootouts and long stretches of talking, walking the ship and reading dialogue wheels. Intensity is high: regular gunfire, explosions, and wartime deaths, with dark, sad moments and some brief romance, but no gore beyond stylised impact. It suits a long evening session, a committed playthrough on a weekend, or a rainy night in. It is for players who want a sprawling sci-fi saga in which their choices shape the emotional outcome, and who are comfortable with a serious tone and frequent combat.
