The story

Destiny - The Collection is a great way for Guardians to embark on journeys they may have missed, as well as a perfect starting point for new players who want to join the Destiny community. Explore the ancient ruins of our solar system as you immerse yourself in a cinematic single-player campaign. Join up with friends in three or six player co-op activities. Spar with your fellow players in a variety of competitive multiplayer modes. Upgrade your character to create a powerful hero as unique as yourself. Become Legend.

What it’s like

Bright, sweeping vistas of a ruined solar system: sun-bleached Martian dust, pale lunar plains under a black sky, and the cold, glowing blue of Golden Age architecture reflected in polished metal. The palette leans on warm ochre and chrome against deep space, with lens flare, drifting particles and volumetric haze giving the wide shots a dreamy, expansive scale, while the close-quarters firefights are loud, kinetic and sharply lit. Sound is layered and cinematic: a swelling orchestral score that rises into choral pulses during big set pieces and falls back to ambient wind, distant thunder and quiet hums in between. The rhythm alternates long, wandering exploration with bursts of rapid combat and loot-hunting, so the mood is adventurous and hopeful rather than bleak, with a light, lonesome melancholy in the empty ruins. Violence is constant but stylised, sci-fi gunfire and explosions with little gore, and tension comes from enemy swarms and boss fights rather than dread or cruelty. The emotional arc follows a newly awakened guardian growing from rookie to legend, earning allies along the way. It suits co-op sessions with friends, a relaxed weekend of solo missions, or a first dive into a big shared-world shooter for players who enjoy progression and spectacle.
