The story

A crew of miniature aliens operate a spaceship that has a human form. While trying to save their planet, the aliens encounter a new problem, as their ship becomes smitten with an Earth woman.

What it’s like

Bright, saturated studio comedy: primary colours, glossy digital polish and wide, evenly lit sets that make New York and the spaceship interior look equally clean and cheerful. Camera work is conventional and busy, with plenty of medium close-ups on Eddie Murphy's exaggerated expressions and quick cuts during slapstick, while the score is bouncy orchestral pop with synth stings for the sci-fi moments. The mood is cheerful and silly, a light, goofy family picture with a warm, low-stakes pace and no real menace. Its gentle comedy ripples with physical gags, mild crashes and a few flashes of peril, but there is no real violence, gore or sexual content, and the emotional register stays upbeat. The arc follows a tiny alien crew learning to see humans as worth caring about, and the central figure slowly softens toward the people around him. It suits a relaxed family evening, a lazy afternoon, or an easy-going watch for anyone wanting something sweet, silly and undemanding.
