The story

Kay and Jay reunite to provide our best, last and only line of defense against a sinister seductress who levels the toughest challenge yet to the MIB's untarnished mission statement – protecting Earth from the scum of the universe. It's been four years since the alien-seeking agents averted an intergalactic disaster of epic proportions. Now it's a race against the clock as Jay must convince Kay – who not only has absolutely no memory of his time spent with the MIB, but is also the only living person left with the expertise to save the galaxy – to reunite with the MIB before the earth submits to ultimate destruction.

What it’s like

Bright, saturated studio comedy in the bouncy, polished early-2000s style: crisp digital-era sheen, candy-coloured alien designs, and New York streets lit in clean daylight and cheerful neon rather than gloom. The camera is quick and playful, with snappy cuts, rhythmic gags and wide establishing shots of the city that give way to close, goofy character beats. The score is brassy and upbeat, all bounce and wink, with sudden comic stingers and bursts of sci-fi whoosh. Vibe: breezy, slapstick, cheeky and warm. It suits a Friday night with friends, a lazy afternoon, or a comfort rewatch when you want something light and funny. The pace is brisk and episodic, and the emotional core is the easy, bickering partnership between two odd-couple agents who grow fond of each other again. Intensity is mild: there are alien shootouts and cartoonish, bloodless action, sci-fi peril and some crude jokes, but no gore and nothing frightening for long. For those who want fun, mischievous sci-fi with a big heart and no real dread.
