The story
Akira Minato, a middle-aged coin laundry owner, befriends Shintarō Katsuki, a high schooler. Their bond deepens as Shintarō learns about Akira's identity.
What it’s like
Soft, domestic and unhurried, this Japanese drama lives in the small rooms of a neighborhood coin laundry: the rhythmic churn of washers, warm fluorescent light on folded towels, and the quiet of afternoons with few customers. The mood is gentle comedy with an undercurrent of ache, the kind of low-stakes calm that suits a rainy Sunday or an evening when you want something tender without much noise. Pacing is easy and conversational, with scenes that linger on ordinary exchanges and small kindnesses rather than big turns. Its emotional register is wistful and warm, centred on a lonely older man and a teenager whose feelings are tangled with first love, unrequited longing and the awkwardness of an age gap. Intensity is low: the tension is emotional rather than physical, with no meaningful violence and romance handled with restraint. It suits viewers who want a bittersweet, character-led story about connection, identity and quiet, uncertain affection, especially those drawn to sincere, slow-burn queer romance.
