The story

A corporate risk-management consultant must determine whether or not to terminate an artificial being's life that was made in a laboratory environment.

What it’s like

Cold clinical whites and sterile blue-grey interiors dominate this science fiction thriller, with harsh fluorescent light in lab corridors giving way to dim, rain-dark forest at the edges of a remote compound. The camera tends toward tight, unsettling framing and quick, jittery cuts during confrontations, while stretches of stillness let unease gather in an empty room. The score is restrained and synth-tinged, with low pulses that swell into sharp stings when something goes wrong. Its vibe is clinical dread with a creeping, paranoid chill, best suited to a late evening alone or a tense night in with the lights low. The pacing builds steadily toward a few sudden, sharp bursts of action, and the emotional core is a cool, detached professional slowly confronting the human warmth of the being she has been sent to assess. Violence is brief but brutal, with some blood and a few sudden injuries, and the horror leans on dread and jump moments more than sustained gore. It suits viewers who enjoy AI-and-identity questions wrapped in suspense and do not mind a bleak, unsettling ending.
