The story

Old World is an epic, historical turn-based strategy game. Set in the classical era, Old World gives players the chance to not just build an empire but to found the greatest dynasty of its age.

What it’s like

Warm, unhurried strategy with a painted, parchment-toned map and a hex grid that reads clearly at a glance. Each turn feels like a deliberate move on a board, and the tiles, dynastic portraits and ornate interface give the classical world a bookish, illustrated texture rather than a gritty one. Sound stays low and unobtrusive, so the rhythm comes from clicking through decisions and watching borders shift across the map. The mood is calm, patient and absorbing, with long stretches of planning, quiet expansion and the slow weight of generations passing. Warfare is present and can be decisive, but it is handled as strategy, with bloodshed kept abstract and largely off-screen, so the intensity is moderate and cerebral rather than gory or frightening. It suits a long rainy evening, a session stretched over several days, or a player who likes to think three moves ahead. It is for people who enjoy grand strategy, diplomacy and building a legacy, and who are happy to trade speed for depth, with co-operative and multiplayer options for sharing the table.
