The story
A small-town doctor gets sucked into the ruthless world of show business when he crosses paths with a popular teen idol who holds a secret.
What it’s like
Bright, glossy animation switches sharply between saturated stage spectacle and muted, fluorescent backstage rooms, with pink and violet spotlights, rapid cuts, and exaggerated expressive faces. The palette is candy-bright in the idol concerts and drab in hospital corridors and cramped apartments, and the score swings between bouncy J-pop numbers and sudden, sparse piano. The vibe is glittering and anxious, a restless mix of fan-euphoria and quiet dread, best suited to a binge on a weekend afternoon or a late-night watch when you want something energetic that still has weight. The pacing is brisk, with comedic beats cutting into serious emotional scenes. Its people are shaped by ambition, grief, and the strange intimacy of being watched, and its arcs follow characters who begin as spectators and gradually become implicated in the machinery they admire. Intensity runs medium-high: there is brief but jarring violence, including a stabbing, along with stalking, grief, and dark discussions of abuse and trauma. Sexual content is limited to suggestive humour. It suits viewers who enjoy behind-the-scenes entertainment dramas, fans of animated character-driven stories, and anyone who wants a sharp, sometimes harrowing look at celebrity culture rather than a gentle escape.
