The story

On a North Carolina island of haves and have-nots, John B and his tight-knit crew of friends find mystery and adventure while hunting for lost treasure.

What it’s like

Sun-bleached and salt-streaked, with bright daytime coastal light, saturated teal water, and warm amber interiors where the rich houses glow against the grit of the marina town. The camera moves often and energetically, with handheld swoops over surf breaks, quick cuts during boat chases, and sweeping drone shots of marsh and open ocean, while a pop-rock and synth-leaning soundtrack keeps the pulse up. The vibe is sunny restless adventure with a rough edge: a summer-escape feeling that turns urgent without ever getting bleak. Pacing is brisk and cliffhanger-driven, with each episode ending on a turn. Tone stays buoyant and rebellious, and the central arc follows a close-knit group of teenagers from different class backgrounds who test their loyalty as the stakes climb. Intensity is moderate: some fistfights, peril at sea and in storms, gunfire and brief menace, drug-trade threads and underage drinking, with little gore and no explicit sex. Suits a binge over a long weekend or a lively late-night watch. For viewers who want escapist treasure-hunt energy, teen-ensemble drama, and surf-town atmosphere.
