The story

In Oxygen Not Included: Spaced Out! you'll spearhead space missions to new and undiscovered Planetoids, transport resources between bases, and manage multiple worlds on the fly to build a megacolony that not only survives, but hopefully, thrives. New Multi-World Gameplay: Put your colony management skills to the test by juggling the needs of Duplicants in multiple colonies simultaneously. Switch between planets in real time and secure rare resources on other worlds to supply your home base. Expanded Rocketry: Customize new modular rockets to your liking, then explore the expanse of space with the newly overhauled Starmap. Huge expansions to the Research Tree provide new mid-game Rocketry options, giving your Duplicants an edge in the asteroid space-race. New Critters: Get acquainted with some new fuzzy friends - if you're nice, they might help you out around the colony! New Resources, Biomes, Tech and More: Tons of new biomes to explore, tech to research, and resources to mine. There's a whole new universe out there - discover it all in Oxygen Not Included: Spaced Out!

What it’s like

Dense, cramped pixel-art colonies sit in a warm amber glow of heat lamps and sickly green gas, with the sharp contrast of cold blue space and the dim orange of molten magma pockets. The look is hand-drawn and chunky, the camera a flat side-on cutaway of underground rooms and rockets, and the new planetoids bring their own palettes: frozen whites, lurid toxic yellows, scorched reds. The soundtrack is a soft, mellow chiptune-adjacent score that loops gently under the clicks and hums of machinery, and the ambient noise of bubbling water and whirring fans becomes part of the rhythm. The vibe is cosy, slightly absurd, and absorbing, a calm tinkering pace that turns into quiet urgency when oxygen runs low. Play is unhurried and cerebral, with long stretches of planning, routing pipes and watching tiny figures go about their jobs, and a steady stream of small crises that resolve through careful thought. Violence is essentially absent; danger comes from suffocation, heat, and disasters rather than gore, and the tone stays light and wry throughout. It suits long evenings, background play while listening to podcasts, and players who enjoy systems-driven problem-solving, expansion, and watching a fragile little world slowly grow more capable.
