The story

The case of the stolen elephant! Elephant... Rare... Striped. ...has been kept for many years by an animal trader named Karbophos. Being unable to overcome abuse, it escaped and found a home at the zoo in our city. This is definitely Karbophos's work. To the zoo!

What it’s like

Bright, hand-drawn cartoon backgrounds in flat, saturated colours, with a cast of exaggerated, rubbery characters who wander through zoo enclosures, city streets and cluttered rooms. The look is cheerful and a little scruffy, closer to a Saturday-morning cartoon than a modern render, and the cursor-driven scenes are static and wide, so the screen stays calm while you poke around. The sound is light and chirpy: jaunty, tinny music loops under the rooms, with squeaks, clatters and deadpan voice lines that give the whole thing the feel of an old comedy sketch. Its vibe is goofy, warm and mildly bewildered, the kind of silly, low-pressure afternoon you can dip in and out of. Pacing is unhurried and puzzle-led, with long stretches of trying combinations of objects and chuckling at the absurd results, and the tone stays playful with no real threat. Violence is absent, and nothing is frightening or cruel; the only tension is the mild frustration of a stuck puzzle. It suits kids, families, and adults who want an easygoing, gently funny detective game to play at their own pace.
