The story

Poseidon is an expansion to Zeus: Master of Olympus, the third title in Impression's builder series. The game adds the Atlantis civilisation to the mythological world of Zeus, with its own unique gods, monuments, heroes, monsters, industries and more. An adventure editor is also included to allow players to create their own scenarios.

What it’s like

Warm sunlit islands and marble-white city blocks rendered in crisp, bright isometric views, with the bluish sheen of open sea framing every coastline. The sound is a bouncy, Mediterranean-flavoured score, lute and lyre loops that sit politely under the clink of construction and the murmur of busy docks, and the occasional bellow of a sea monster breaks the hum. It plays like a patient wooden-table board game: you lay out farms, quarries and workshops, watch the little citizens shuffle along their paths, and tidy the chaos one turn at a time. Pacing is unhurried and cumulative, with sessions that stretch or shrink to fit the evening; the emotional arc is a steady climb from a modest settlement to a thriving, well-ordered city. Violence is cartoonish and distant, with troops clashing in small, bloodless skirmishes and monsters that menace rather than maim, so the intensity stays low and mostly tension-free. It suits a rainy Sunday, a relaxed comfort replay, or a quiet hour alone with a cup of tea, and it is for players who enjoy city-building puzzles, mythology dressed in friendly colour, and building something steadily over time.
