The story

While recovering from an assassination attempt four days before his coronation, a stern prince is replaced by a romantic lookalike.

What it’s like

Lush, theatrical frames of painted palaces, marigold-gold courtyards and jewel-toned silks, shot in bright, warm studio light that rarely dims into shadow. Camera moves are broad and celebratory: sweeping crane shots over processions, symmetrical set-piece compositions, and close, stagey two-shots when the romance settles in. Sound leans into big orchestral swells, ornate Hindi-language songs with dhol and sitar, and bursts of choreographed dance, with quieter piano passages for tender moments. The vibe is opulent, sunny and playful, a dressed-up fairy tale with a light comic edge and a warm, feel-good pulse. Pacing is leisurely and musical, with frequent pauses for song and spectacle. The story follows a stiff royal learning to loosen up and a gentle romance blooming through mistaken identity, with sibling tension running underneath. Intensity is low: a brief assassination attempt and a few tense palace moments, but no gore and little real menace. It suits a festive weekend, a comfort watch, or anyone wanting colour, music and a sweet romance for people who love lavish, old-fashioned Bollywood family drama.
