The story

A horrific murder upends the Chicago Prosecuting Attorney's Office when one of its own is suspected of the crime—leaving the accused fighting to keep his family together.

What it’s like

Cool, grey Chicago light fills the courtroom and the office corridors, with wintry daylight through tall windows and the warm amber of lamps in dim domestic rooms. The camera stays fairly composed, favouring measured two-shots and watchful close-ups that let silences hang, and the score is sparse and low, more pulse than melody. The vibe is tense, grown-up and quietly corrosive: a rainy weeknight with the sound low, or a slow binge over a few evenings. The pacing is deliberate, with courtroom procedure and family dinners given equal room, and the emotional register stays adult and restrained, following a respected man whose certainty about himself and his marriage slowly cracks under suspicion and betrayal. Violence is central to the premise: a murder is discussed and investigated throughout, with some brief, grim crime-scene and flashback imagery, but no sustained gore. Sexual content and infidelity are present and frank, though not explicit, and the tone is cold and fearful rather than graphic. It suits viewers who enjoy legal thrillers, moral ambiguity and domestic drama, and who are comfortable with a dark, unsettling story about trust and guilt.
