The story
Through unlikely bonds formed during night shifts at a local aquarium, Tova, an elderly widow, learns of a life-changing discovery that may bring her joy and wonder once again.
What it’s like
Cool blue tank light and dim after-hours corridors give the aquarium a hushed, drifting feel, while the surrounding Pacific coast of British Columbia and Washington brings grey drizzle, dark evergreen edges and wide, misty water. The mood is tender and quietly melancholy, with a warm undertow of wonder: a grieving widow's slow thaw, the comfort of an unlikely friendship, and the gentle pull of a mystery that unfolds at an unhurried pace. Expect patient scenes, room to breathe between conversations, and a restrained, unobtrusive score. The loss of a child sits at the story's heart and is handled with weight and restraint, so the sadness is felt more than shown. Violence is absent, with no gore and no sexual content. It suits a rainy Sunday, a comfort watch with a cup of tea, or a quiet evening alone. Made for viewers who want emotionally grounded drama, grief softened by hope, and an affectionate, bittersweet look at a fictional seaside town and the creatures who live in its water.
