The story
A group of students visit a mansion called "Hell House," and murderous high jinks ensue.
What it’s like
Bright, flat studio lighting over sprawling suburban sets and a haunted mansion whose chandeliers and cobwebs look deliberately fake, the parody built from broad, cheap-looking frames that rarely linger on anything for long. Shots are fast and cut-heavy, with plenty of mugging to camera and gags that land in the middle of the frame, so the picture feels glossy and bouncy rather than gloomy. The sound is a loud, cheeky mix of pop cues, slapstick stings and horror-movie stingers played for laughs, with the occasional screaming beat. This is goofy, scrappy comedy with a boisterous, slightly chaotic energy: a rainy-day or late-night laugh, easy background company, a good pick for a group watch when nobody wants anything scary. Intensity is low to moderate: sex jokes, crude humour and comic violence (pratfalls, mock gore, exaggerated kills) but no real dread or sustained brutality. It suits fans of spoof comedies who want big, silly set pieces, and people who like a vulgar, self-aware send-up of teen horror.
