The story
Iwakura Mitsumi, a tenacious country girl, prepares for high school in the big city. She meets the handsome Shima Sousuke, whose easygoing ways help her adapt in the real world.
What it’s like
Soft, sunlit anime with clean line work and watercolour-pale backgrounds: bright summer streets, sunlit classrooms, the green hush of a countryside valley, and the warm glow of a city evening drifting through train windows. Colour is gentle and airy, with plenty of pastel skies and open, uncluttered frames that let the characters breathe. The score leans on light acoustic guitar and piano with ambient city and nature sounds filling the spaces between lines. The vibe is warm, bright and earnest, with an easy comedic lightness and a sweet undercurrent of first-crush awkwardness. It suits a lazy weekend morning, a comfort rewatch, or an episode while winding down after a long week. Pacing is relaxed and episodic, with a steady rhythm of small moments, misunderstandings and quiet bonding, and an arc that follows a determined young woman slowly finding her footing among new friends in an unfamiliar city. Intensity is low: no violence, no gore, and romantic tension stays light and innocent. It is for viewers who want something wholesome, bright and gently funny, and who enjoy coming-of-age stories rooted in everyday Japanese school life.
