The story

A fearless, faithful albeit slightly forgetful Mumbai cop, Veer Sooryavanshi, the chief of the Anti-Terrorism Squad in India pulls out all the stops and stunts to thwart a major conspiracy to attack his city.

What it’s like

Big, loud, and glossy: bright Mumbai daylight and saturated night-time streets give way to flashy set pieces lit in hot oranges and cool blues, with slow-motion slams, sweeping crane shots and vehicles tumbling through the frame. The score is pounding and percussive, with brass hits and synth-pop swells under every chase and punch, and the dialogue is delivered at full volume. Its vibe is brash, crowd-pleasing and unapologetically over-the-top, the kind of movie for a Friday night with friends or a loud, popcorn-heavy evening when you want spectacle rather than subtlety. Pacing is relentless, with action sequences arriving every few minutes and only brief pauses for banter, family melodrama and romance. The emotional arc follows a driven officer who is tough on the outside and sentimental underneath, and the story leans on patriotic heroism and comradeship. Violence is frequent and stylised: gunfights, brawls and explosions, with lots of falling bodies and little blood, nothing graphic, and no sustained gore. Romance and sensuality are mild. It suits fans of big-budget Indian action, cop-universe crossovers and anyone who wants pure, unpretentious spectacle.
