The story
A four-star general begrudgingly teams up with an eccentric scientist to get the U.S. military's newest agency — Space Force — ready for lift-off.
What it’s like
Bright, flat fluorescent offices in government buildings give way to sun-washed Colorado and Florida exteriors, with wide, open skies and sleek, glossy compositions that make the military bases look almost like architect's models. The camera mostly stays put: single-camera sitcom framing, sharp two-shot exchanges, and the occasional sweeping aerial of a rocket pad or desert horizon for scale. The score is brisk and bouncy, with synth-tinged cues that lean into mock-heroic swagger, and the dialogue does plenty of the work. Its vibe is brisk, bemused, and good-humoured, a workplace comedy with a sci-fi grin. Episodes move quickly, with rapid-fire banter and small bureaucratic absurdities stacking up, though its warmth comes from a bruised but hopeful partnership between two stubborn men slowly learning to respect each other. Intensity is very low: some mild profanity and workplace tension, no violence, no gore, and no real peril beyond career stakes. It suits a lazy weekend, background laughs while folding laundry, or a comfort watch. It is for people who enjoy sharp ensemble comedy, dry office satire, and gentle, earnest silliness about big ambitions.
