The story
All-stars from previous installments convene in glittering Las Vegas, battling for a victory that could define their dreams and their careers.
What it’s like
Bright, saturated Las Vegas nights: neon signs, glossy casino floors, and the warm sheen of stage lights on sweat-slicked studio sets, all shot with a lively, mobile camera that stays close to the dancers' bodies and cuts on the beat. The palette runs hot pink, electric blue and gold, with the grit of street-level Los Angeles-style warehouses and rehearsal rooms offering a rougher, sun-bleached counterpoint. The score is pure pop and hip-hop, bass-heavy and insistent, with the dance numbers doing most of the emotional talking. Pacing is brisk and upbeat, with quieter scenes of rehearsal, bickering and reconciliation breaking up the set pieces. Tone is earnest, sunny and openly sentimental, the arcs following a group of performers learning to trust one another and to bet on their own talent. Intensity is low: some scuffles and dramatic tension, a bit of romance, no gore and nothing frightening. It suits a lively weekend watch, a playlist-on-the-go mood, or a comfort rewatch for people who want energetic, feel-good dance cinema with a big heart.
