The story

Newlywed couple Ted and Tami-Lynn want to have a baby, but in order to qualify to be a parent, Ted will have to prove he's a person in a court of law.

What it’s like

Bright, flatly lit studio comedy with the look of a mid-2010s Hollywood studio release: clean digital imagery, saturated suburban interiors, sunny Boston streets and sterile courtroom fluorescents that make every scene feel like a well-kept sitcom set. Camera work stays conventional, mostly medium shots and two-shots in static setups, with the occasional wide for a gag. The sound is pop-song soundtrack energy, quick cuts timed to punchlines, and the crude sound design of a talking plush bear. The vibe is loud, goofy and irreverent, with a lightly warm undercurrent of friendship under the crude jokes. It suits a casual Friday night with friends, a laugh-out-loud rewatch, or something to put on while half-listening. Pacing is brisk and joke-dense, and the central arc follows two man-child roommates who learn to take responsibility while trying to hold their friendship together. Intensity is high on crude sexual humour, profanity, drug jokes and bawdy gross-out gags, with cartoonish violence and brief bloody moments that play for laughs. It is not gentle, and it is not for anyone who dislikes raunch. It is for viewers who enjoy irreverent, R-rated comedy and buddy chemistry.
