The story
One man's campaign for vengeance takes on national stakes after he is revealed to be a former operative of a powerful and clandestine organization known as Beekeepers.
What it’s like
Hard-edged and glossy, with saturated blues and steel greys, bright suburban daylight, and the nighttime city given over to sodium streetlight and the cold white glow of monitors. The camera stays close and kinetic in the fight scenes, cutting fast through brawls in cramped interiors, yet it settles into wide, still frames of empty houses and gleaming offices when the story pauses. The score is pulsing and percussive, with heavy electronic beats that push each confrontation forward. The vibe is grim, blunt and propulsive, a revenge machine with a thin streak of dry humour. Violence is frequent and unsparing: hand-to-hand combat with bone-crunching impacts, gunfire, stabbings, explosions and blood, and some scenes carry real menace, including a hostage-style threat and cruelty toward the vulnerable. Nothing here is gentle, and the sexual content is minimal. It suits a late-night action binge or a loud weekend watch for people who want relentless momentum, brutal set pieces and a lone, implacable avenger at the centre.
