The story

Dan Morgan is many things: a devoted husband, a loving father, a celebrated car salesman. He's also a former assassin. And when his past catches up to his present, he's forced to take his unsuspecting family on a road trip unlike any other.

What it’s like

Bright, sun-bleached suburban daylight gives way to glossy neon and desert highway glare in this action comedy, shot in a polished, mainstream digital style with fast cutting, wide establishing shots of Las Vegas after dark, and a lot of car-interior framing where the camera crowds three or four faces together. The sound is upbeat and busy: pop-leaning score, punchy needle drops, and the constant chatter of a family squabbling in a moving vehicle. Its vibe is breezy, slapstick and warm, with a light-hearted sense of mischief rather than dread. Pacing is brisk, with set-piece scenes of car chases, fistfights and gunplay that are staged for thrills and mostly bloodless, so the violence is frequent but cartoonish and low on gore, with some crude humour and mild swearing. The emotional arc follows a seemingly ordinary father and husband reconnecting with his wife and kids as they discover his hidden past, and the family learning to work as a team. Best for a relaxed Friday night, a fun family-friendly-ish watch with friends, or anyone who wants action with a comedic, uplifting heart.
