The story

A group of teenagers navigating high school and charging into adulthood the way everyone does... by taking one step forward and three steps back.

What it’s like

Bright, flat daylight and the glossy, even lighting of an American teen sitcom fill the school hallways, bedrooms and suburban living rooms, with little atmosphere beyond what the jokes need. The pace is quick and talky, built on awkward silences, ill-judged confessions and rapid cuts between friends who are always half a beat away from embarrassing themselves. The mood is cringe-comedy warmth: sweet, a little sour, and rarely cruel. Four boys who are not quite popular and not quite outcasts drift through the usual rites of adolescence, and their arcs follow small, repeated failures that somehow add up to loyalty between them. The sexual talk and teen drinking are frank and crude in a juvenile way, with no real violence and no dread. It suits a lazy weekend afternoon, a light comfort rewatch, or background viewing while doing something else. It is for people who enjoy male friendship comedies about awkwardness and want an easy, low-stakes laugh.
