The story

It's the '90s, and five losers run an illegal business at their high school. They sell homework and assignments to their classmates. The advantage is that no one ever suspects the nerds. Their business brings them money and popularity. But hormones and an unexpected death threaten to ruin everything. If the business collapses, their futures and their friendships are at risk.

What it’s like

Bright, slightly washed-out school-day light, with sticky hallways, crowded cafeteria tables, and bedrooms lit by desk lamps and tube TVs, gives this series the feel of a 1990s adolescence looked back on fondly. The tone is wry and warm, with a light comic bounce in the dialogue and a wistful undertow that surfaces when the friends' schemes start to crack. Episodes move briskly, with a steady stream of small jokes, quick exchanges between the five friends, and the anxious energy of teenagers who feel both invincible and one bad week from ruin. Its people are ordinary kids with big ambitions, and the arc is about outsiders discovering what loyalty and self-respect cost when the stakes grow personal. Crushes, awkward confessions, and the sharp panic of adolescence are handled with a light touch; the sudden death that shakes the group lands with real sadness but no graphic detail, and the violence is minimal. This suits a comfort rewatch, a lazy weekend afternoon, or anyone who wants a nostalgic, funny, gently emotional story about teenage friendship, with no gore and little menace.
