The story

After a fateful miss, an assassin battles his employers, and himself, on an international manhunt he insists isn't personal.

What it’s like

Cool, clinical compositions dominate: static, wide frames of anonymous rooms, Paris apartments, and sterile airports, often shot from a fixed distance so the protagonist becomes one small figure in a large, indifferent space. Digital imagery is crisp and desaturated, with muted greys, dull browns and occasional cold blues, while lighting stays practical and flat, with overcast daylight, hotel fluorescents and the blue-green glow of screens. Sound is the star: near silence broken by the amplified tick of breath, a rhythmic, pulsing electronic score by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, and sudden, precise bursts of sound that make each action feel mechanical. The vibe is detached, deadpan and quietly unsettling, a sardonic cool that suits a late night alone or a focused, unhurried watch. Pacing is deliberate, with long stretches of patient waiting and tightly edited bursts of procedural activity, and the emotional register stays dry and internal, following a meticulous man who narrates his own rules and slowly unravels them. Violence is sudden, brief and matter-of-fact, with some blood and a few fights, but no gore for its own sake, and tension comes more from dread than from spectacle. Best for viewers who enjoy precise, stylised thrillers and dark humour rather than gentle viewing.
