The story

In 1956 France, a priest is violently murdered, and Sister Irene begins to investigate. She once again comes face-to-face with a powerful evil.

What it’s like

Cold blue-grey daylight over stone villages and dim candlelit chapels, with the Gothic interiors leaning on deep shadow, warm amber flicker, and sudden cuts into darkness. Frames are often symmetrical and centred on a single figure in a corridor or nave, with long holds that let the space feel too big and too still before something moves at the edge. The score is orchestral and swelling, punctuated by sharp stings, and the sound design favours whispers, bells, and creaking wood over constant noise. Its vibe is cold, atmospheric dread with a Catholic-gothic sheen, best suited to a dark night in or a Halloween-season watch. The pacing is brisk and jump-driven, with the emotional core resting on a grieving, steady-minded nun who keeps confronting something she cannot reason away. The horror is frequent and loud rather than deeply graphic: jump scares, demonic apparitions, a few bloody moments and violent deaths, with dread more prominent than gore. It suits viewers who want spooky, jolt-filled supernatural horror in a period setting, not gentle or low-stakes viewing.
