The story
Supervillains Harley Quinn, Bloodsport, Peacemaker and a collection of nutty cons at Belle Reve prison join the super-secret, super-shady Task Force X as they are dropped off at the remote, enemy-infused island of Corto Maltese.
What it’s like
Saturated, candy-bright colour rules this film: hot pinks, toxic greens and sunburnt jungle oranges, with a camera that whips, zooms and cuts to comic-book freeze frames and pop-up captions. The jungle is humid and sweaty, the beaches blown out under hard tropical sun, and the night scenes glow with muzzle flashes and alien bioluminescence. Expect loud, propulsive needle-drop rock and pop layered over a jittery score, with the rhythm of a sprint that rarely lets up. The vibe is raucous, irreverent and bloody-funny, a sugar-rush comedy with a mean streak, best for a loud Friday night or a group watch where nobody needs to follow every beat. Violence is frequent and graphic: bullets and blades tear through bodies, there are gory deaths, dismemberment and a creature-driven massacre in the back half, delivered with exaggerated cartoon energy rather than lingering dread. Sexual content is limited to innuendo and crude jokes, and the language is profane throughout. It suits fans of irreverent superhero chaos and anti-hero ensemble banter, and is a poor fit for anyone wanting something gentle or low-stakes.
