The story

Meet The Thundermans, a typical suburban family that happens to have astounding superpowers. At the center of the action are the 14-year-old Thunderman twins, who share the same bathroom, the same school, and the same annoying little siblings. Their only difference? The sister is a super student with a super sunny disposition who super looks forward to being a superhero someday, and her twin brother is a super villain.

What it’s like

Bright, saturated Nickelodeon sitcom staging: flat, even multi-camera light across a suburban split-level, primary colours on costumes and sets, and a bouncy theme-song energy that carries into the cartoonish sound effects of every superpower flash. The camera stays mostly in medium two-shots and reaction cuts, with the laugh track and quick back-and-forth dialogue setting the pace. Vibe: breezy, goofy, sibling-chaotic, with a warm family core under the slapstick. The stakes are low and the peril is pratfall-level, with fights that come off as slapstick and tussles rather than real menace; there is no gore, no sexual content, and very little that frightens. Sweet-natured and busy, it suits an after-school watch, a light weekend marathon, or background noise while doing homework or folding laundry. It is aimed at kids and young teens and at adults who want something silly, easy and affectionate.
