The story

The fast-paced action movie is again set in the criminal underworld in France, where Frank Martin is known as The Transporter, because he is the best driver and mercenary money can buy. In this installment, he meets Anna and they attempt to take down a group of ruthless Russian human traffickers who also have kidnapped Frank’s father.

What it’s like

Sun-bleached Riviera light, saturated blues and warm ochres, and glossy digital photography that makes every harbour, villa terrace and polished car look expensive. The camera tracks low alongside vehicles, swings through tight interiors, and cuts quickly through fights and chases, with a pulsing electronic score that drives each sequence forward. The vibe is slick, defiant and kinetic, a loud and confident adrenaline ride with a cool, stoic hero at its centre. Violence is frequent and physical: car crashes, hand-to-hand brawls and gunfire, with some bloodshed but little lingering gore. The threat of kidnapping and trafficking hangs over the story, though it is handled as action stakes rather than harrowing drama. Best for a late-night action binge, a long-haul flight, or anyone who wants fast, stylish set pieces and a lean, unfussy pace.
