The story

On the night of a sleepover, a group of teenage girls venture out in a competitive game of challenging dares. As the antics escalate, and the dares become more extreme, the girls unravel the truth behind a former student's rumored suicide.

What it’s like

Night-time sleepover energy, with the mood tipping from giggly to uneasy as the evening goes on. The story follows a group of teenage girls playing a competitive truth-or-dare game that keeps escalating, and the fun gradually gives way to something colder as they start piecing together what happened to a former classmate who was rumored to have taken her own life. The pacing builds steadily, with the tension coming from the group's dynamics and the guilt that surfaces between them rather than from big set pieces. Its register is dramatic and thriller-tinged, with a dark undercurrent around suicide and cruelty among peers. Expect the dares to become increasingly reckless and uncomfortable, and the subject matter to weigh heavily, so this is not gentle viewing. It suits viewers who want a tense, character-driven teen drama about female friendship, secrets and complicity, watched late and alone rather than as easy background company.
