The story

Feeling confined by their small town and overbearing parents, Annie and Jules hatch a scheme of running away. The only issue is, they need the money to get there. Jules suggests the couple try webcam modeling. Although she’s nervous at first, Annie can’t argue when the money starts rolling in. But as the girls soon find out, consequences can blindside you. Sometimes violently.

What it’s like

A dark, unsettling drama for late-night viewing, with the tension of a thriller building under ordinary small-town boredom. The tone turns from restless and hopeful to anxious and claustrophobic as the stakes rise, and the atmosphere leans toward lonely bedroom glow and the cold blue of screens. Two teenage girls, bored and boxed in by their families, take a risky route to money, and the film follows how a quick plan spirals. Expect drug use including cocaine, frank sexual content and exhibitionism shown through webcam work, and teen romance that is intimate rather than sweet. Violence arrives suddenly and is sometimes brutal, so it lands as shock rather than steady dread. Pacing is driven by escalation and the pull of easy money, with the emotional arc centred on loyalty between two young women and the cost of wanting out. It suits viewers who want a provocative, morally messy coming-of-age story and are comfortable with explicit, uncomfortable material. It is not gentle or comforting.
