The story

A young street-smart, Nathan Drake and his wisecracking partner Victor “Sully” Sullivan embark on a dangerous pursuit of “the greatest treasure never found” while also tracking clues that may lead to Nathan’s long-lost brother.

What it’s like

Bright, sun-warmed adventure with glossy digital polish: wide establishing shots of Manila's humid streets, a Spanish harbour, and a sprawling tropical estate, all lit in saturated daylight and dusk oranges, with quick cuts and kinetic handheld energy during the chases. The score is brassy and playful, leaning on swelling orchestral stings and a bit of rock, and the set pieces are loud but bloodless in a cartoonish way, with fistfights, leaps off ledges, and explosions that land more as spectacle than danger. Violence is frequent and stylised, with some gunfire and peril but no real gore and little lasting harm. The vibe is cheerful, pulpy and light-hearted, a buddy-banter romp built on a treasure hunt and a search for a missing sibling, with a bit of sardonic bickering between its leads and a playful wink at the video game it grew from. It suits a relaxed Friday night, a long-haul flight, or a watch-with-friends evening when you want momentum without grimness. Pacing is brisk and rarely pauses, and the emotional register stays warm and easygoing, with the central pairing's rapport doing most of the heart-work. Made for viewers who want escapist fun, mild swagger and a rollicking, tongue-in-cheek sense of adventure.
