The story

Welcome to Undertale Yellow. In this fan made prequel to the RPG Undertale, you control a human who falls underground into the world of monsters... but will you make it out alive? Grab your cowboy hat and your gun and take the place of Undertale’s Yellow soul in their journey through the Underground on an original adventure.

What it’s like

Chunky pixel sprites and a warm, cartoonish cave palette, with the cave's blue-grey gloom broken up by sunlit hub towns and bright, cheerful monster designs. The score leans on bouncy chiptune loops with a dusty frontier swing, so the soundtrack feels like a campfire tune wandering into a dungeon. Combat is turn-based, with small bullet-hell dodging sections that stay playful rather than punishing. The vibe is wry, low-key adventure with pockets of melancholy: a bit goofy, a bit wistful, and comfortable to drift through in short sessions. Violence is cartoonish and mild. Enemies are mostly beaten or spared with little blood, and the darker dramatic moments come through dialogue and mood rather than graphic imagery. Pacing is steady, built around exploration, banter, and side quests, with a protagonist who gradually finds their footing among a cast of quirky monsters. It suits players who want a cosy, slightly bittersweet journey with a sense of humour and no real horror, especially fans who loved the original Undertale's gentle warmth and want a new corner of its world.
