The story
Becca, an anxious, non-vampire teen is torn between two boys. Before she can choose, Becca must get around her controlling father, who treats her like a child. Meanwhile, Becca's friends contend with their own romantic issues – all of which collide at the prom.
What it’s like
Bright, flat, fluorescent-lit suburban high school hallways, cheap-looking sets, and a steady stream of quick cuts and pop-culture riffs set the tone. The sound is mostly chart-pop needle drops and goofy stingers, with the jokes landing on sight gags, pratfalls and mugging actors. The vibe is loud, silly and unpretentious, the kind of thing to put on with friends on a lazy weekend or as easy background company when you want to laugh without thinking too hard. Pacing is brisk and gag-driven, with little time to settle, and the romantic triangle at its center is played as exaggerated teen melodrama rather than sincere longing. Intensity is low: crude jokes, sexual innuendo and cartoonish slapstick "vampire" violence, but no real gore or menace, and nothing frightening. It suits anyone wanting a light, irreverent, undemanding spoof of teen supernatural romance, especially viewers who enjoy broad parody and don't need a story that takes itself seriously.
